The Hero’s Journey Method
is a unique, solution focused approach for men & women to bring not only consciousness to what is unconscious (the shadow) but furthermore, bring relatedness and unity to the archetypal energies common within us all.
It’s an efficient, effective somatic approach within a Jungian framework, a unique way to help both men & women improve any aspect of their lives and a form of eldering for the 'modern man in search of his soul'. The concept of coaching is often confused with forms of counselling, consulting, and therapy but coaching is actually very different in it’s orientation.
This unique Jungian form of coaching addresses the present and is future-focused towards the truest & most aligned version of ourselves. It does not analyze the past but rather looks to focus on the task at hand, resolving problems as they currently appear in the clients life and aiding them in their own goal & project setting that arise from the clarification of their own deepest intentions.
It holds that life problems and the emotional disorders that hold us back from self-realisation are caused by unmet, unfelt & uncommunicated aspects of our inner life that are largely unconscious to us. The process of making the unconscious conscious Jung called individuation.
It's precisely when we look to achieve what we want to achieve that we are presented with the emotional charge surrounding our complexes that run our lives unconsciously and so often leave us feeling impotent & perplexed.
Unbeknownst to us, our internal life & it’s energies are not only ours, they're what Carl Jung called the emergent Self, the unconscious God image and whole making archetype seeking to become conscious through each of us. Unlike Freud, he saw that the unconscious is to be trusted and The Self as a self righting & self organising principal creating order from chaos and leading us to wholeness.
Through orienting towards The Self and entering into relationship with it, we become more harmonious, connected, energised and life becomes more meaningful. Sessions become a means towards wholeness and personal growth offering clarity & insight.
The Hero's Journey approach is a solution-focused methodology for self-realisation based on proven tools, techniques and processes, bringing inner wholeness by improving relationships within the psyche through better communication. It heals the relationship between our sense of self and our inner life, ourself & other and ourself & life.
It brings inner resilience through somatic resourcing practices as well as offering a profoundly effective way to directly experience our innate fundamental adequacy via The Hero's Journey Self Inquiry Retreat.
It also empowers individuals in their personal growth clarifying life directions & clears the charge around complexes. We become more harmonious and integrated through integration of the shadow, moving forward in greater congruence & with more efficiency.
In session, this is achieved by ‘The Hero’s Journey Method’ of inner life coaching, a combination of Clearing, a collaborative form of inquiry and Focusing, a way championing all aspects of the individual and a paying attention to the felt sense, what the body already knows to be true.
By accompanying clients in a way that facilitates presence and asking a volume of the right kinds of questions aimed at the client's matter of importance which serve to clarify the issue at hand, it allows clients time & space to be seen & heard and to work things out for themselves.
This creative partnership fosters specific, meaningful, and measurable changes in the client’s personal and or professional life. Most importantly no advice is given, goals set, or action taken on behalf of clients.
Hero’s Journey coaching also provides a reliable way of client led dream interpretation for coaches & clients alike, tracking the dream image through symbol & felt sense and a way of accessing the archetypes, the collective building blocks of the psyche, through archetypal voice dialogue.
When the material that's presented is met, related with, felt within the body (embodied) and articulated truthfully to another live human being it brings new life, often leading us in surprising new directions.
Vital life energy is able to flow freely in the direction it needs to go. Goals and projects are often achieved synchronistically and seemingly without effort. The charge around complexes diminishes and what previously appeared as problematic no longer seems to be so, through the alchemical transformation that is the basis of all psychology & spirituality.
A key difference between therapy and coaching is that in coaching the client takes responsibility for their safety at each turn. In support of the archetypal heroic impulse, we recognise that a key limiting factor in the process of individuation is one’s capacity for overwhelm and as such there is an emphasis on somatic resourcing throughout each session and the learning of vessel building practices outside of sessions, encouraging the development of new, more resilient attitude with which to face one’s life. ourney Inner Life Coaching is a unique way to help both men & women improve any aspect of their lives and a form of eldering for the 'modern man in search of his soul'.
